That is indeed a good article, Wordsmith, and I believe the most profound sentence in it, at least to me, was "If the source of a proxy war is not destroyed, the war will eventually be lost just as the war in Vietnam was lost." It's so simple to see this that it's very hard to understand why everyone doesn't see it. I have to conclude it's because they don't want to!
COL Snodgrass does an excellence job of capturing the essence of the Vietnam debacle. The unfortunate aspect of the current situation is that the Democrats have indeed learned from history… and they are trying their damnedest to repeat it with Iraq. Also unfortunate is the fact that our GOP leaders seem to be stricken with a disease that jellifies the spine.
Thanks for posting that. Very insightful and it did a stellar job of laying out the facts as many seem fearful of doing.
