Funding the War....Against Global Warming
Apparently, global warming is a more serious threat to humanity than global terrorism. From the Washington Times:
Senior House Republicans are complaining about Democrats' plans to divert "scarce" intelligence funds to study global warming.I wonder what other resources they would propose we divert toward the study of global warming....
The House next week will consider the Democrat-crafted Intelligence Authorization bill, which includes a provision directing an assessment of the effects that climate change has on national security.
An education bill proposal that would make Al Gore's movie and book required material from K1 through K12? Dept. of Agriculture to weigh in with studies on the dangers of cow flatulence?
What exactly is the intelligence community supposed to do? Spy on it? Wiretap Al Gore's phone line for possible communications to eco-terrorists living abroad?
Intelligence panel Chairman Silvestre Reyes, Texas Democrat, said the climate-change study is one of several shifts his party has made to intelligence policy.Remember, folks: This is the same House Intelligence Committee Chairman, chosen by Nancy Pelosi over Jane Harman, who did not know that al Qaeda is Sunni and not Shia. Let's hope he at least knows the difference between water vapors and carbon dioxide.
"We're concerned that global warming might impact our ability to maintain national security," he told The Times, describing the idea as "cutting edge."

Good greif!! Do we have Lucy and Charlie Brown running Congress or what? As it is too much money is spent on global warming as is.
There is a serious lack of gravitas in the Democrats. And deep thought.
Though disgusted when I heard this, I was not surpised because Desm do not see Islamo's as a threat.
GW is their pet project and their big money maker so they are going to throw every dollar available to their environmental whacoo buddies even if it means desimating intell and destroying national security in the process.

It's more important to them to fight an enemy (Global Warming) that may or may not even exist, when we know for sure Terrorism DOES!!!

Actually, this makes no sense on an entirely different level than the ones brought up.
If fighting Global Warming effectively involves such things as cutting down to one square of toilet paper, shouldn't that SAVE us money rather than requiring us to spend more?
And then couldn't we use those funds saved by fighting Global Warming in the intelligence budget?
See? It's win-win! We could even make posters for it, "Use One Square For Freedom" or some such.
Or maybe not.
