The loss involves a massive amount of circumstances, almost too many to count, in combination with a MASSIVE anti-Bush vote ("All I know is that I don't want Bush or anyone possibly aligned with him."). It was more a vote AGAINST Bush than it was necessarily a vote FOR Obama. Whomever the Demorats placed on the Electable Pedestal, THAT would be the Anointed One as long as it WASN'T Bush.

We are on the same page, Word. Excellent post and links for reference. If McCain got 46% of the vote with everything against him and a very poorly run campaign, then think how close it could have really been. I'm a proud moderate, still, and I do vote party. My party is distinctly different than the other party, we've just lost our way. My post similar to yours is still in the making. I'm not quite ready to let it rip yet.
We are not quite on the same page, Wordsmith, as I'm one of those conservatives who believe we have strayed too far from our core values and that's a major reason why we lost this election. But, as you wrote in your excellent post, and as BZ says, there are many other reasons as well. I guess it was a combination of things, but like one of your commenters over at Flopping Aces wrote, I'm baffled by all the anger of the left getting a free pass, by all the cheating by the left (ACORN), and by Obama not being vetted.
I think that perhaps the media chose our president this time. There biased reporting played a very major role in this. It's disgusting!
Yes, ALL agreed: the media saved Obama even millions MORE dollars.

Exactly. McCain was not only outspent by the left-wing illuminati, but out aired for free by the media as well.
