Final Curtain Act

Ramos and Compean's sentence commuted!

Phew!:
President George W. Bush has commuted the prison sentences of two former Border Patrol guards whose convictions for shooting a Mexican drug dealer ignited debate about illegal immigration.

Bush's act of clemency on Monday for Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean was a victory for Democratic and Republican members of Congress and others who pleaded with the president to pardon the men or at least commute their sentences.

What were you doing.....waiting until the last minute? Don't scare me like that, Mr. President.

Yes, the sentences were commuted. But they should have been completely pardoned.

Those agents did the right thing intially by shooting at a drug smuggler but they missed and then tried to cover it up and that was wrong. They paid for it and the Prez let them know they weren't going to get off Scot free. I'd say even score.

The timing was good.......take a bit of the thunder. It would have...in a NORMAL inauguration, but THE ONE seems to have overcome and this is a blip on the radar screen it took Yahoo an hour at least to finally print! FOX had it immediately.

I'm hoping Obama doesn't pardon them and he could........he was threatening to commute them, apparently, to get Conservatives on his side (as IF!)...he could pardon and steal all Bush's righteous thunder.

But, this was a VERY HAPPY day because of this commutation, no doubt about it!! Hi, Sparky!

This amounts to "a day late and a dollar short", but at least these brave public servants will be reunited with their families soon. Most of the country has wanted to see this happen, what took so long?
