I have to admit to being THRILLED Chicago lost..then realized it doesn't feel that good to be so against a president. OUR president.
Michelle's comments threw me .."And I'm not asking just as the First Lady of the United States, who is eager to welcome the world to our shores. And not just as a Chicagoan, who is proud and excited to show the world what my city can do. Not just as a mother raising two beautiful young women to embrace athleticism and pursue their full potential.

I'm also asking as a daughter.

See, my dad would have been so proud to witness these Games in Chicago. And I know they would have meant something much more to him, too."

"Not ASKING"? Sounds like she's BEGGING. I didn't like that too much. And WHEN does it stop being about the OBAMA FAMILY and about AMERICA?

So, from now on conservatives will blast every president throwing his/her weight behind an effort to attract the Olympics to American soil?

The answer is yes...if he/she is a Democrat.

Shameless political posturing.

rockybutte,

Did you even bother to read any of the post links?

It's not because "he's a Democrat", dude.

And yeah, right...W invaded Iraq because of oil. Please give that one a rest.

Iraq wasn't a "distraction". What resources were withdrawn from Afghanistan prior to the NATO handover, called for by other nations?

Afghanistan and Iraq will take decades. That's always been a reality. 8 years is a drop in the bucket in the context of history. Yet we have short attention span and expect everything to be honky dory within our lifetime.

The left always whines about Bush and oil

Hey Chuck, too bad W got distracted by Iraq's oil.

Would one of you please, for once, explain what he got out of this? This is a nice sound bite but you guys never explain what the hell it means.

Second name a national security interest, short of protecting our borders, more important than oil. While I do not like our reliance on oil imports (a reliance that actually went up significantly under Clinton), it is realty for now. If Bush had not protected the US' oil supply and you were paying $10 a gallon you would have whined about that.
