Thanks for all the nice pictures and words Word. You always have such meaningful things to say. I am proud that you are an American.
Let us not forget the proclamation that formalized Armistice Day (it was changed to Veterans Day in 1954)in 1938 to honor the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when it became "all quiet on the Western Front" : "It is fitting that the recurring anniversary of this date should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations; and inviting the people of the United States to observe the day in schools and churches, or other suitable places, with appropriate ceremonies of friendly relations with all other peoples."
jennifer,
Thanks for the compliment.
Friday, while at the gym, 2 kids- one in high school and the other 9 years old, on the team, asked what Veterans Day is.
It really is quite aggravating.
rockybutte,
Thanks for the reminder. I actually have a link, at the bottom of the post, to "a little history", plus inadvertently and purposefully, to a notable charity.
Speaking for my husband, Wordsmith, thank you! :)
GOd bless those who protect our freedoms and liberties. Thank you Veterans past and present.
Trying to contact the author of this blog.
The boy running through the flags is my son. I'm a vet that traveled to DC in 2007 for the 20 year anniversary of the Wall.
We have two other children, and are raising them up to pay tribute to those that have served.
God Bless and Keep,
Kevin Sr
ps... Wordsmith, please email me, *lastname*@gmail.com
