Rudy Still Out to Lunch in the Primaries

Mike's America brings to my attention that Rudy is pulling out of South Carolina, and it looks to be Florida, or bust:
The former New York mayor has yet to win a contest and is counting on a victory in delegate-rich Florida on Jan. 29 to prove his candidacy is viable heading into the multistate contests slated for Feb. 5, where he believes he can prevail in states such as California and Illinois.

"We'll win Florida," Giuliani said. "It's an unconventional strategy, but I've never followed conventional wisdom before _ it's always worked. We think that Florida is a perfect place for us to sort of play out our entire campaign. All the themes in our campaign fit Florida. It's a big state. It's a big test. It's a test that's a microcosm of the country in many ways."

"Florida is real important to us, so we're going to put if not everything into Florida, almost everything," Giuliani said.

Meanwhile, Mike encourages those in South Carolina to go with Fred Thompson.

Patrick Ruffini wonders where they've been keeping Rudy.

And they criticized that Fred Thompson got into this "game", late. Yeesh!

I applaud Mike for his ability to think fluidly, and adapt to changing circumstances.

Fred is coming on strong here in SC and I beleive he will either win or a strong second next Saturday in the primary. A win would be better.

Rudy has just disappeared. But when you get down to it Fred is the only real conservative in the GOP mix!~

The outcome in S.C. on Tuesday will be very interesting. I think it is make or break time for Thompson.

Giuliani seems to have kept with the Florida strategy all along. He knew he'd never win Iowa and only a big maybe in NH. South Carolina is too conservative, too. So, on to Florida and all those delegate votes there.

We'll know soon if it works out for him. He is following the old Reagan strategy, by the way. I think all this calling Thompson the 'real' or 'true' conservative is still falling on deaf ears. Voters are smarter than that. When Reagan was around, Thompson didn't support him running against Ford or Bush the senior. Now he wants to talk about working closely with Reagan. Not to mention the matter of McCain/Feingold/Thompson campaign finance reform. Sooner or later the far right will have to come to grips that the old litmus tests no longer work.

Honestly, I don't think it is make it or break it time yet for any of the GOP candidates. We will see, but I think it would be foolish to stop now. Evidently, Rudy has a plan. Let's give it time.

Fred is starting a fire. Yes it is late, but that is the way it is.. Let's NOT GIVE UP ON HIM. He can pull out of this if we don't abandon him.

Let's not abandon Fred, Mitt or Rudy right now. I think they are the only 3 out of the lot that would be great leaders.

I can't figure out why Huckabee and McCain are out front. They are the two most liberal (excluding the clown, Ron Paul).

They only candidate that is make or break in SC is Fred Thompson. If Fred can't beat McCain in Soth Carolina he is finished. That is exactly what the MSM wants. Rudy can sit and wait in Florida but once the MSM gets behind McCain or Huckster, Rudy will be steam rolled too. The MSM wants McCain or Huckster to run against to counter the poor candidates their side has chosen.

Yah, I'm getting more and more nervous about Rudy's strategy. Tune into my radio show tomorrow, I'm going to have a Rudy guy and a Fred guy on to give me updates about the campaigns.
