The Cardboard Cut-Out Candidate

Maryanne Patlak carries a lifesize cardboard cutout of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama (D-Ill.) outside of a Miami Beach polling station on Tuesday. The Democratic National Committee pledged not to seat the state's delegates at the party's national convention in Denver this summer after Florida resisted warnings not to move its presidential primary into January.

Where is the substance behind the rhetoric?

Dragon Lady's Den:
I was watching Hannity and Colmes and Democrats were being interviewed on who they preferred, Clinton or Obama. Almost to the person they agreed they preferred Obama. When asked who had the most experience they said Clinton did. Why did they prefer Obama? "Because he has charm." "Because he's more likable." When Hannity asked for them to name one accomplishment not one of them could do it. Not one person could name one thing that Obama had accomplished and yet they were going to vote for him. The post I did yesterday "Beware of the Pied Piper" is proven without a doubt!
Curt found the video last night:

And offers up this serving, this morning.

2 years in the Senate...the third year basically campaigning for president. A voting record further to the left than Hillary. Campaigning against Bush/Cheney, who aren't on the GOP ticket in '08. I personally know people who behave like they are witnessing the Rapture. I am not exaggerating! They are resting faith and hope upon an empty vessel who is a polished orator.

I watched the coverage on Fox last night and was also struck by the Dem focus group's reaction for Obama. All feelings, not one pointing to policy or substance. It may carry him to the election with such a strong turnout in Dem primaries. He is certainly successful in the motivation and energy department.

Last night in the audience during his speech to supporters in Chicago, Obama had a blonde woman behind him that I swear brought up imagines in my mind of the mania of teenage girls when The Beatles landed in NYC.

That is my concern about Obama were he to get the nomination. No one lsitens to what he says, they just like how he looks, talks and presents himself...and that Orpah is his girlfriend.

It reminds me of women who voted for Clinton in 1992 because they though he was handsome. Give me a break!
