What Would be Gained from a "Proportionate Response"?

And how the hell does one even carry out such a concept? "Disproportionate use of force" is what ends wars.

A Palestinian family rushes from the scene of an Israeli missile strike on a building in the Rafah refugee camp, southern Gaza Strip. Gazans cowered in their homes Sunday as Israeli warplanes pressing one of Israel's deadliest assaults ever on Palestinian militants unleashed missiles on weapons warehouses, a police station, the homes of militant field commanders and dozens of other targets across the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. More than 270 Palestinians, most of them militants, have been killed and more than 600 people wounded since Israel's campaign to quash rocket barrages from Gaza began midday Saturday.

Israel has tried and tried to use a proportionate response for years and their people continue to be targets of the palastinians. It's time to end this now.

Of course, if it were NOT any Western nation or specifically NOT Israel this would be immaterial. ANY response would be warranted. I suppose an appropriate response would be: 1 Israeli = sneak over and kill 1 Hamas member.

Then stop.

I've written a lot on this now. The fact that Israel planned his campaign meticulously, and that there's consensus toward victory inside the Israeli state, give me great confidence that the strikes will amount to a strategic game changer.

Keep it up over here, and have a great new year.

Proportionate response equals eliminating Hamas!

I think that thi time Hamas will become toast. I heard yesterday that Egypt is on full alert and their troops are being moved to the Sinai in order to prevent Hamas from escaping to the South.

Also Jordan and the PA are supporting Israel in this nehind the scenes.

If it lasts for more than six weeks the new Israli PM will be Benjamin Netanyahu and he will take thsi to its onlt ligical conclusion and eliminate Hamas !

Go Israel!

I fervently hope that Hamas becomes toast!

If I made a list of the dumbest things I've ever heard of, "Proportionate Response" would be at the top of that list, Wordsmith. If someone attacks me or mine with a knife, I'm not going to defend myself or loved ones with a knife. I'll shoot the sob and I won't be concerned about responding proportionately!

What is it with these people who come up with such inane ideas anyway?

A proportional response would be for Israel to continually bombard them day and night until they move to Syria.

There is no such thing as a proportionate response! Kill Hamas. Period.
