"Can I treat you to a shoulder massage?"
President Barack Obama and Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, accompanied by Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Jan Peter Balkenende (R), leave the podium following the official group photograph at the G20 summit at the ExCel centre, in east London April 2, 2009. World leaders are set to declare an end to unfettered capitalism at a G20 summit on Thursday after France and Germany demanded they act fast on promises to prevent a repeat of the worst economic crisis since the 1930s.

He and Michelle are just touchy-feely people, Wordsmith. Michelle thought nothing of hugging Queen Elizabeth. They used to chop off people's heads for hugging the queen! Of course they don't do that anymore, but keeping one's hands to oneself is age old protocol while visiting the queen, but what do either Michelle or Obama know about protocol?
It was actually the Queen who made the first touchy-feely move by placing her hand on Michelle Obama's back. Michelle was just returning the friendly gesture.
It is apparant they highly respect each other.
Marty,
It's just partisan brouhaha from my side of the political aisle. Think nothing of the ruckus.
I know, just thought I'd pipe in and let you know I'm still lurking now and then. I remember when Bush gave Merkel a shoulder massage. It was all over the lefty blogs. What is it with U.S. Presidents and this Merkel chick?
