Winning Hearts and Minds on the Stem Terror Cells Debate?

Did President Bush's defunding of embryonic stem cell research back in 2001 motivate scientists to redouble their efforts on adult stem cells? Does Bush therefore deserve some of the credit for yesterday's dramatic breakthrough in creating stem cells out of adult skin cells?
Well, not according to Kevin Drum. And leave it to the leftwing blogosphere to also find occasion to bash Bush.

But good news, nevertheless.

When we finally win the terror war, I'm sure we'll have won that in spite of President Bush's aggressive approach, as well; after all, the lefty critics have done it to Reagan, refusing to credit the former President with bringing the Cold War to its desirable conclusion.

Now if only we could convince President Bush to spend a little less time hanging around Bono....

This was the real moral high ground in action, rather than the phony one the Democrats and their liberal overse'ers claim to represent on every issue.

Bush resisted, researchers worked harder and voila, we got the best of both worlds.

The claim that Bush's refusal to allow embryonic stem cell research set us back half a decade can, in my opinion, be answered with "So what? It got done in a way that should please both sides of the argument, both the moral and the liberal."

The lefties' repeated assertion that Dubya is "dumb" is eroded, once again, by the fact that he has been monitoring the research in Wisconsin from the get-go, which means he was expecting more acceptable results like this.

A true leader knows that sometimes he has to make people work harder and smarter to reach goals via acceptable methods.

But we can't even begin to expect that the left will give him any credit, instead condemning him, because the wasteland of immorality that populates their vision for America renders Christian men like Bush anathema.
