Sarah Stood and Delivered

I actually don't think Senator Biden had a bad night, either; Joe didn't lose the debate; but Sarah won it, because Republican morale had more at stake in this than the Democrats did. Governor Palin reinvigorated the conservative base and restored confidence in Senator McCain's choice that might have wavered from the unrelenting media pounding she's endured for the last month.

Yeah, my biggest problem with Biden was his smugness and arrogance. And all the conservatives that threw Palin under the bus now owe her an apology.

Exactly right, dee!

I noticed something, though - I watched Biden's expressions very closely, and I would almost swear that he seems to personally like Palin. When she got some zingers at him, he smiled in an almost paternal and proud way.

I wonder if he'd rather be running with HER!

I think Palin did well, but I have to give Biden credit, he didn't act as condescending as I thought he would and kept the gaffe under control. I think she came across better though.

Uhm, this may be a tab bit shallow - but Sarah's shoes are to die for!

Sarah connected with the Jane & Joe America last night because she IS one of them, and she actually likes them.

Obama and that pro abortion catholic (whose name escapes me), want to grab power in America, but in general don't like America or Americans. Which explains their high approval rating in Europe. Thank God, Europe isn't allowed to vote in our elections....yet.

Self reliant American's will never be accepted by the left - as they don't subscribe to the victim mentality. Uppity women from Alaska who are political superstars face increased derision. Can't have a successful wife and politician that doesn't play the victim card.

If Palin were a democrat you'd have her awful interview with Couric plastered all over your blog and you'd be slamming her today instead of praising her for never answering a question, but instead, rambling off all her memorized talking points including her little cutzie winks and nods. You'd also have posts on how she is a governor of a state that has a population smaller than your city and was mayor of a town that has less people than your high school.

Either way this election goes, we Americans will get what we deserve.

Quite frankly, I think George Carlin hit the nail on the head here.

marty,

You know as well as I do that this is a center-right blog, partisan for the right. I'd also think you'd know me better by now, than to lump me in with that generalization of right-wingers. I could say the same about what lefties would post on their blogs, when things are reversed.

I admit I will post things that I wouldn't post, if things are in the reverse. But please note times when the right side of the blogosphere has been all abuzz on something, and I haven't posted it. Usually, it's because of lack of time or lack of interest; other times, it's because I don't agree with my side. Sometimes I'll post on a topic, as a means of damage control, as my side bleeds itself.

For something a bit more conciliatory to your liking, perhaps, note that I posted this on Flopping Aces, a blog that veers harder right than I'm willing to go, oftentimes.

I think Gov. Palin was great and not good. Americans are sick of politicians. Gov. Palin is not a politician, she is one of us. Gov. Palin is straight from middleclass America. We’ve heard soooooooooo many lies, distortions and half-truths from Washington career politicians we are soooooooo ready for Sarah Barracuda and John McCain please go for the jugular of liberal socialists.

Joe Biden was the quintessential Washington insider. It doesn’t matter what they say. It doesn’t have to be true. They’re just playing the game. Don’t hate the playa… hate the game mentality. Sarah Rocks!

Sarah's shoes??? LOL! I must be slipping. I didn't even notice them!

She was indeed awesome, Wordsmith, and I agree that Biden wasn't as condescending as he could have been. I think that it would have been nice for him to tell the truth more often though. I mean, we have all heard Obama say that he would sit down with our enemies without preconditions. Biden said he didn't say that! Sheesh!

I don't think Biden lied; he probably just didn't know any better. Sometimes you buy into the talking points of your side, without realizing...

Exactly. I never have lumped you in until your undying support for the ultra-rightwinger Palin. You surprised me.

"marty, no way did my high school have 6,700-7,000 students. Please don't hyperbolize."

Maybe yours didn't, but there are high schools with more students...the high school my kids went to for instance.

Oh, marty...it's mostly being in a hurry and not deliberating and vetting your comment thoroughly.

It is amusing though, that Sarah gets attacked for being charming and charismatic. The post at the top was inspired by you.

I'm missing something here. How is she an "ultra-rightwinger"?

Ok, fair enough. But how can you diminish her executive experience, while Obama supporters want to inflate Obama's paper-thin resume?

She's a proven fiscal conservative, distancing herself from earmarks, using her line-item veto power as Governor to cut down on wasteful spending. She's revamped Alaska's pre-existing severance tax on oil and gas production, replacing a structure negotiated behind closed doors into one that is negotiated in open public view by unethical predecessors and energy companies. Part of the resulting surplus, she rebated back to tax-payers, directly.

As Governor, she also broke a multi-year stalemate over the financing and construction of a $40 billion cross-state gas pipeline that will deliver cleaner and cheaper natural gas to Alaska's population centers. Alaskans pay some of the highest energy prices in the country. She's accomplished more than any other politician of any party at any level of government in the advancement of energy independence, thus far in this century.

There must be a reason why her approval rating is higher than any other governor's.

Perhaps because she actually has a resume that shows she can get things done?

Palin won no doubt about it and to be fair, Biden didn't screw up as badly as I thought and hoped he would. He did come off arrogant but made it through with no major gaffe's. Even the moderator didn't show the bias I thought she would.

She truly scares the crap out of liberals and you can see it plainly by the way they attack her with such zeal. I agree with Sky.........love the shoes too!

I thought so. :)

"How is she an "ultra-rightwinger"?

I didn't give Palin much thought until I read that the Council for National Policy (CNP) vetted her. Google her name at that link. I have encouraged you before to research the religious right and learn what their goals for America are. This should be of particular interest especially for those who don't profess Christianity as their religion.

"But how can you diminish her executive experience, while Obama supporters want to inflate Obama's paper-thin resume?"

I don't inflate Obama's resume.

"Perhaps because she actually has a resume that shows she can get things done?"

I suppose it is what she may deliver that concerns me.
