Oh, the Outrage!
Can you believe the nerve of the President? The chutzpah? The arrogance, to mix politics and religion?
Here's what else the President said in a radio address to the troops:
“Here, at home, we will celebrate this Christmas Day in our traditional American way because of its deep spiritual meaning to us; because the teachings of Christ are fundamental in our lives; and because we want our youngest generation to grow up knowing the significance of this tradition and the story of the coming of the immortal Prince of Peace and Good Will.”
Yes, the President of the United States said all this....63 years ago.
Just calm down, Barbara. It'll be ok. President Bush isn't the first, and God willing, won't be the last to comfort a nation in religious terms.
I don't believe that most of the "religious right" want to create an American theocracy; they just want to restore what's slowly and methodically being stripped away from us by the likes of the ACLU: religious expression in the public square, that for 2 centuries, have been a vital part of our nation's heritage and culture.

"Usually in the past when I have recieved Christmas cards...."
I guess she didn't read them before. I have recieved one every year that Bush has been President and they ALL have been religious.
In fact this years is very similar to last years. So she not only does not know what she is talking about, ( so what's new here ?), but she is trying to spark a scandal where none exists.
BTW, HOW do you stomach watching the view enough to regularly find these clips ? You must use a lot of Tums to make it through thr programs ! LOL
ken,
I don't even know what time the View airs. I don't catch any TV during the daytime. I only catch wind of these things from talk radio. I believe I owe a hat tip to the Michael Medved Show, for this one.
Glad to hear it, for a moment there I thought you were a true glutton for punishment!
And how does this come about, ultimately? Yes, via the SCOTUS. Getting a Republican into the Presidency is JOB ONE for 2008. No other. Because a GOP President will (with fingers crossed) nominate STRICT CONSTRUCTIONIST judges for SCOTUS and then FIGHT for them. All the other pap about GOP Presidential candidates is just that: pap. You won't achieve a thing unless you get a GOP candidate who STATES they'll nominate S.C. judges for SCOTUS!

Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't Christmas the day we celebrate the birth of Christ? I wasalways led to believe Christmas was about Christian faith in Christ.
I think people get the words Faith and Relgion mixed up and they become confused. Faith is what you have inside of you that tells you to believe in God. Religion is man's way making others believe you have faith in God
